About Me

Hi, I’m Kelsey. For many years, I was a “human doing” instead of a human being. I would set goals for myself, but I was often too busy to stop and enjoy the fruits of my labors. I was a high achieving, Type A, perfectionist, non-profit professional trying to be as productive as possible. I was also a new mom dealing with reverse culture shock after living in Japan for eight years. I realized that the new goals I was setting for myself were not making me happy. I burned out and had a mid-life transition. I used The Desire Map to help me pivot and find renewed purpose.

I have experience with being a TCK, exchange student, expat, and in a long-distance romance. I know first-hand the joys and tribulations of moving abroad, living overseas, and reverse culture shock.

Q: How / where did you Desire Map? What did you love about doing it that way?

I love using both pen and paper and technology to Desire Map.

The first time I did the Desire Map process, I devoured the book from cover to cover. I wanted to fully understand the process before I dove into the exercises. Next, I explored the Core Desired Feelings library online. I saved feelings that resonated with me to an Evernote notebook with the image and the definition.

I now felt ready to complete the exercises. I sat at my dining room table with my favorite pen, a mug of tea, and a notebook and completed the exercises in a few hours. I referred to my Evernote notebook when I was finalizing my CDF choices.

I turned to technology to help me keep my Core Desired Feelings regularly visible. I created a lock screen for my phone using the Desire Map graphic maker.
 I created a Pinterest vision board filled with images related to my Core Desired Feelings. 
I created an intently channel of my Core Desired Feelings.



I revisit my Core Desired Feelings and intentions every December. This year I took Danielle’s Goals with Soul course. I listened to the audio while taking a walk. Or I would practice the Soul Limber Yoga Practice. Then I would complete the written exercises. The combination of audio, written exercises and movement worked very well for me.

Q: Tell me a specific story about how knowing your CDFs has changed your life.

I discovered The Desire Map in January 2015. I subscribed to Danielle LaPorte’s email list shortly afterward. At the time, I was burned out. I suffered from regular migraines. I felt guilty that I was not spending enough time with my son. I hardly took any vacation time. I did not make time for my friends. Something had to change.

On February 8, I received an email with the #Truthbomb “Everything is about to change.” I saw this as a sign as I had decided to resign from my job the next day. Over the next few weeks, #truthbomb after #truthbomb seemed to be speaking directly to me. For example,  “Only you need to trust your intuition.” Or, “Negative feelings are wake up calls.”

Since I have completed the Desire Map process, my life has improved in so many ways. My migraines disappeared. My relationship with my son is richer now that I can spend more fully present time with him. I’ve gotten to know my neighbors. I make time for my friends near and far. Without a diet, I went down two clothing sizes. I won a tennis tournament. I visited my family in England, whom I hadn’t seen in over a decade. I began to write again. I found a fulfilling volunteer role at my son’s school. I sang a solo at church. I began teaching yoga as a side hustle. I became a solopreneur fundraising consultant and now a Desire Map facilitator.

Q: Why are you passionate about sharing this work with others?

I have been a Desire Map evangelist since I discovered the book. I recommended it to everyone I knew who was going through a transition or wanted to make a change.

I have always been a high achiever and a goal setter. I had often felt that the process was missing something. But, I couldn’t put my finger on it.

Then I had an “aha” moment reading the Desire Map. What I had been doing was missing feelings and the process was reversed!

The Desire Map has had a huge positive impact on my life. It is an honor to help you experience the transformative power of the Desire Map for yourself.

Set your intentions and goals in a private Level 2 course designed just for you that starts on the day you choose

LEVEL 2: INTENTIONS AND GOALS is the practical application of the core desired feelings. You’re already putting your core desired feelings at the center of your life. Now is the time for clarity to meet action.

In the next level of the Desire Map process, you will:

  • First, explore perceptions of goals in relationship to ambition, external approval, and “success.”
  • Next, identify a handful of goals or intentions aligned with your core desired feelings. Create a plan to support them.
Setting the goal, pursuing it, and achieving the goal is supposed to feel good. When you are clear on how you most want to feel, you turn traditional goal setting inside out. If you choose your core desired feelings over your external objectives, you will become more content. After all, feeling good is the whole point.

Level 2 course includes:
  • 4 x 90-minute sessions or 6 x 60-minute sessions over 1-2 months
  • Dates determined by YOU. You will schedule each session at your convenience -- not matter where you are in the world.
  • A centering activity to open each session
  • Follow-up email with key takeaways from each session
  • Prompts to inspire you to stay you on track between sessions
  • Email support between session
