for freedom striving + love, livelihood that works, ruthless compassion, all forms of affluence, and passion that persuades …
I’m interested in liberating truth. I think feminine power and progressive commerce are revolutionary forces. In my experience, if you steer clear of dogma and muster up more love than you thought you had to give, then your vitality increases, sweetness surfaces, unity happens. I believe in the creative power of pleasure. I’m convinced that the desire to be genuine is a divine imperative.
I write. I write to love.
Initially, I wrote this book to get all of my entrepreneurial witchcraft and life sight in to one place. It began as a career uplifter for people — which I first published via this site, and eventually called THE SPARK KIT. It caught the attention of Random House/Crown, and now, it’s morphed into a life guide. If there can be such a thing.
My approach is often described as tough love … with extra love. I don’t feel that tough. I’m actually deeply sensitive with a highly refined bullshit detector. And I adore efficiency, so I prefer to get to the point. I think word economy is a form of kindness.
Back to the book… It’s igniting some a-ha’s for people. Loosening up some shackles. Heating up some big plans. I’m excited to see what comes of it, especially in terms of freedom-moves that people might make as a result.
THE FIRE STARTER SESSIONS ships out from online retailers and will be on bookstore shelves Tuesday, April 17th! If you pre-order a few copies now you’ll help me land on The New York Times Bestseller list (dream.come.true.thank.you.thank.you.), and you’ll also get some extra treats, rather immediately.
As for THE SPARK KIT, my now retired “digital program for entrepreneurs: from marketing to meaningful money making”… Watch this space. It’s going to reincarnate as a new all-business, all-the-time program. I’ll relaunch it this spring.
I co-created YOUR BIG BEAUTIFUL BOOK PLAN with Book Mama Linda Sivertsen, because book proposals are to books what business plans are to businesses: essential. It’s epic. It will help you create a better book, a stronger business…and land you a book deal. Book babies are being born because of it. We’re crazy proud.Check it out here.
I speak to audiences.
I talk about authenticity, creativity and meaningful work, and share my experiences from ashrams to raising venture capital. I do this on stage at conferences. Always in high-heels, and usually with a spoken word performance as the finale. I particularly love live Q&A’s.

my past life
I never went to university. For this, I am very grateful.
A LONG TIME AGO … I had a real job, co-running The Body Shop Canada’s Department of Social Inventions. We refurbished Romanian orphanages, and ran recycling and rock-the-vote campaigns. So thankfully, it wasn’t like, a real job.
I was the Executive Director of a Washington-DC think tank where I managed a team of brilliant analysts to create future scenarios for the likes of the Pentagon, IBM and the State of the World Forum. I hung out with Navy Admirals and signed NDAs every other day. That was intense.
Before that, I ran my own communications and business development agency, “promoting visionary people and projects,” including a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, a philosopher-physicist, a rogue economist, the Pulitzer-winning co-founder of Greenpeace, and a few old pop stars.
NOT SO LONG AGO … I was featured in BusinessWeek.com, USAToday.com, Elle, Body + Soul, Vogue Australia, Better Homes & Gardens, Globe & Mail, The National Post, The Huffington Post, Entertainment Tonight, and numerous talk shows. I was the lead author of Style Statement: Live By Your Own Design, which The Globe & Mail deemed, “Haute Minded”. It ranked as an Amazon bestseller and Oprah producers called. That was fun. I built a big website and media presence based on that brand, and then I went super rogue to do my own thing.
Creative sovereignty is bliss.
give goodness
Proceeds from every sale of Your Big Beautiful Book Plan goes to WriteGirl.org. Proceeds from my work have also gone to Women for Women International, The Acumen Fund, Charity: Water and the Catskills Animal Sanctuary. This is just a very small beginning for what I intend to be a long and plentiful philanthropic journey. I hope you’ll hop on the generosity train yourself.
