I like the idea of figuring out how much money would make me happy. If anything it becomes an actual, graspable goal that I can work towards. Anything higher would be greedy and seem like an impossible task.

Damn! Too bad I read this half way through the year:) But better late than never I suppose. From my experience of setting up a business you have to be prepared to tighten your belt the first year. Times will be tough and business may grow slowly. But if you can stick at it and keep plugging away by year 2 or 3 you should be able to hit your target and from then on start having some extra to stash away:) It's worth the belt tightening but. I'd never give away my freedom for a safe job.

Too many people are afraid of making money lately! Thanks so much for dispelling the rumors that you are evil if you make money from what you love. We need money to live, and there's no better way to attain it than through what we love to do! Great post.

I really appreciated that you said, "This is about creating wellness, not gluttony or exhaustion."--Lately especially it's felt like all the advice is to aim higher, higher, highest! If you don't have big money goals, clearly you're not ambitious enough. Wellness--that's much easier to aim for than the more-is-more approach. Thanks Danielle!

I'm in a weird limbo world where I'm an entrepreneur, but not. I'm creative director, designer and on-the-ground administrator for a socially based business in Cambodia; however, it's not my money on the line. The investor/financial backer is the CEO. That being said, I figured out how much money I wanted to make when I first got my #FireSS and within two months was offered a raise that puts me just shy of my goal. Exciting stuff that I hadn't really articulated before.
