This books is sassy and smart. Forget flowery advice or well-worn cliches, La Porte will give it to you straight and still make you believe that you can fly to the moon. I bought this book after watching the ‘promotional video’ type thing on her website, where she talks through her ‘credo for life’. That video sums up the book – it gives me goose-pimples. Watch the video. If what she says resonates with you, then you will get a lot out of this book. No Depth? Hardly the case! How Deep Are You Willing to Go?

The depth of The Fire Starter Sessions lies in the willingness to mine these questions raised in each of the 16 sessions. I have 17 pages I’ve written and I am just starting Session 3. I am doing this as part of a woman’s group and I have seen profound changes in the two women who have completed the book. I find that the questions are simple. It is the answer that is complex. I will read one of the questions and walk away thinking it’s too simple, or hard, or I just don’t feel like it but the question continues to perculate and I write and write as the ahaaaa’s continue. This is a book I could read over and over after the initial read. It’s also one of those books filled with “Yes. Yes. YES!” and “Ah-Ha!” moments. (I stopped highlighting when I realized I was pretty much highlighting every line.)
