Q: What does it mean to you to be a Desire Map Facilitator?

When I made the commitment to be a Desire Map Facilitator, it was way more than a financial decision. It was a declaration that I was sick of allowing life to wash over me. It was a choice to take radical responsibility for my purpose moving forward. It was a FULL BODY YES from the get go. I followed that physical intuition and haven’t looked back. Becoming a facilitator and continuing to renew my license correlates to freedom, power, and intentionality. It folds into my way of being seamlessly and with extraordinary value.

Q: Where were you, in life or business, before you become a Desire Map Facilitator?

Before I became a Desire Map facilitator, I was stuck in a loop between entrepreneurship and falling back into the corporate world. I’ve had my own businesses since I was in 3rd grade when I sold hand painted hair clips to my classmates. I love the hustle. Even though I was amazing at my corporate jobs, I was unfulfilled and joyless. Picture E.T. when he was dried up and flaky from being out of his element for too long. That was me. I needed freedom, creative license, and the ability to work from home one-on-one with people. All of these desires are reflected in my CDF’s. Becoming a Desire Map Facilitator gave me the legitimate financial and psychological ability to cross the bridge from the corporate world to entrepreneurial pastures and then burn the bridge, really.

Q: How have you used the Desire Map Facilitator Program in alignment with your coaching practice?

I am a life coach who specializes in hospice work, grief, and addiction recovery. Freedom from suffering in all of these areas require a safe container for processing all of life’s emotions. The Desire Map conversation dovetails perfectly with the work I do, because we are constantly unpacking emotions. It is juicy for everyone, no matter where they are at in terms of emotional dexterity.

Q: What makes Desire Map such a powerful tool for coaches?

The Desire Map is so accessible to men and women and for people of all ages. The exercises are at times playful and at other times intense. They open the door to places that traditional coaching questions or counseling might not readily access. The work WORKS. I found this the first time I went through the book and started sharing before Facilitating was even a thing. It is simple and effective and infinitely pragmatic and flexible.

Q: As a facilitator, you take advantage of spreading the Desire Mapping process out over a series of weeks, rather than one- or two-day workshops. What do you love about this weekly format of Desire Mapping?

I always start mentorship or coaching with four weeks of Desire Map Level 1 to assess whether moving forward in a coaching relationship would be a good fit. I can determine the participant’s eagerness and willingness to do the work and if they are receptive to my style of coaching. The work of determining CDFs creates a platform, language, and container that allows work to progress speedily and powerfully. If after four weeks the client and I are not interested in working together anymore, the Desire Map process is complete and can continue to provide value to the client for the rest of their lives. I feel good knowing that they receive tremendous value no matter how our relationship unfolds. Having a week between the four sessions is fantastic. The client gets homework and an opportunity to really live into the practice of paying attention to their feelings. For some of us, waking up to emotions and feelings is new and takes some getting used to.

Q: What is your most cherished memory of being a Desire Map Facilitator?

I really am so proud of all the men and women I have coached through The Desire Map. I really love when I get a random text from someone during the process exclaiming that they’ve identified one of their CDFs. That happens a lot. We discover our CDFs and they discover us — we must meet them halfway by doing the work. I also love doing the “perfect day” exercise with my clients and seeing them step into these visualizations over time, some quickly, some a little more slowly, but they manifest their creations. I have, too.

Testimonials from workshop attendees

“Deborah created a safe, sacred space for me to explore my heart’s desires. Each session began with a lovely guided meditation that put me completely at ease. With her gentle guidance, I could tune out the head chatter and listen to my heart. Working with her was a rich and joyful experience. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to do this work.”

“Deb’s thoughtful guidance and insights allowed me to reconnect with myself and create clarity about how I want to feel. Deb masterfully creates a safe space for Desire Mapping. I felt challenged, inspired, and completely energized by all of the exercises and meditations she led me through. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to do this work.”

Lindsey I

When I began working with Deb, I thought my issue was organization. She drew out the emotional underpinnings of what was happening and provided space for my conflicting emotions about creativity to emerge and resolve. I recommend Deb and this work to anyone struggling with motivation, creativity, or resistance, or who wants simply to improve general life satisfaction.
