We’ve seen teachers using The Desire Map with their students. Now here’s a sweet story about Rachel, a magical momma from Illinois, incorporating desired feelings into daily life with her daughter. Prepare to be inspired, and in awe…
Mom & Daughter
My 8-year-old daughter is in on The Desire Map action now. This started recently when she cuddled up with me while I was writing my CDFs for the day, so I simply asked her the same questions I ask myself each morning.
‘How do you want to feel today?’ Her answer today was awesome and grateful! I followed up with ‘What can you do to make that happen?’ She said, “Grateful: Do stuff I love to be grateful for. Awesome: Say ‘I love myself,’ because that makes people awesome — when they love themselves.”
Now we just work it into our morning… cuddling in bed before we start the day, or at breakfast, or on the way to day camp. We make playlists to help us feel awesome and grateful and remind us to always choose love over fear. We have done CDF collages together and talk about feeling our way through life, and we constantly make ‘stop doing’ lists together so we can stay focused on what’s most important to us and how we want to feel in our lives.
We often stop through out the day and say things like “I’m feeling empty or sad, how do I WANT to feel?” and we do things to shift. Or we even try to notice how others are feeling and help them to shift. Desire Mapping has just become a part of our world.
As I have integrated Desire Map into my life, it has naturally spilled over into her life in even more powerful ways….
I’m a single momma, so I put a lot of pressure on myself to make up for lack of dad, by being super mom. The Desire Map has helped me pick up my desires again after denying them in the name of supermom. I have started my day for years now asking myself ‘How do I want to feel today?’ (I bought the first digital release of Desire Map and have followed Danielle’s site from day 1.)
That question alone has DAILY helped remind me to stay true to me and my desires first, when I can so easily be consumed with mommy ‘shoulds’ and to do lists. It has helped me to truly take care of me, so I can take care of her. The Desire Map has given my daughter a mom who (most days) shows up with a lot more magic, ease, freedom, joy and love. (My CDFs, for now.)
