Desire is a practice. Every morning before my feet hit the ground, I think to myself: “I desire to feel… in communion, divinely feminine, creative, etc.”
That simple act feels like a prayer. It’s my reaching out to the universe for resources, supplies, energy. It calms my mind and makes me feel like I am steering my life.
This small practice of declaring, naming, requesting my desired feelings every morning has probably been the most profound out of this whole Desire Mapping experience and methodology for me.
That’s the one piece I would underscore, underscore, bold and italicize for you.
There were mornings and moments when I was feeling constricted with rage or disappointment, or profound self-doubt and… all I could grasp at, all I had left in my tool bag of psych 101 gimmicks, was this desire thing. And it turned out to be more than a gimmick.
I can’t emphasize with enough love and encouragement how powerful it is in a moment of pain to simply pause and inwardly recall your core desired feelings. This is really all I can leave you with now — desire is a practice.
Every day, every morning, committing and devoting yourself to feeling the way you want to feel is the shortest way to uplift your existence, to feel your power, to have more power to share.
You are worthy of your desires, and if you commit to make this a practice (and I don’t mean it in that kind of cult-like, ‘This is going to be the only thing ever that you use to change your life completely in seven steps’), but if you commit to wanting what you want, and to honoring your desires, and to putting feelings — your most desired, preferred, radiant, life-enhancing feelings — at the center of your daily plans, then I could almost guarantee you, you’ll feel amazing.
