What are your core desired feelings?
Unleashed, cherished, free, on fire, and satisfied — deep in my soul.
What are you doing this week or lately to generate your core desired feelings?
I might put on music or a mediation track to help me feel how I want to feel. I am a big fan of structures, so I have reminders around me to keep me on track. For example:
I wrote “How do you want to feel today?” on the bathroom mirror, and I have post-its and touchstones on my desk for the same purpose.
What lightbulb went off for you when you started to look at how your feelings related to how you did your life/work?
Asking how I want to feel, rather than what do I need to do, was the greatest shift, as I have been a doer most of my life. Now, the doing comes from a connection to how I want to feel, and that usually has things feel lighter, coming from a place of choice.
When you got clear on your CDFs were there any goals that you were chasing that fell to the way side? Did new or different goals/intentions emerge?
Yes absolutely! The ‘shoulds’ dropped away, especially around my business goals, and I began to focus more on work that felt good, that satisfied me deeply. Health-related goals became a priority without a lot of effort. The past year, people have often commented on my willpower, which had very little impact. Focusing on how I wanted to feel made the difference; so much so that I lost 25 lbs without all the striving and discipline of past attempts.
What tunes are revving up your core desired feelings these days?
I love silence when I’m working, but am happy to crank the tunes when we’re in the car, or getting ready for an event. My husband has me hooked on The Voice! When I really want to change my mood, I put on dance music: Adele, old school disco, Maroon 5, world music with a good beat, etc. Even just a song or two can transform my state, and get me back on track.
What’s a goal that you’re focusing on this year?
I found myself writing this in my journal the other day: 2014 is the year of ridiculous amounts of money, love and freedom! Might seem like an odd way to phrase it but it works for me because it’s a bit playful and creates a lighter feel with this intention.
What’s not working that you want to change?
I’ve been exploring how to feel free while married or in a committed relationship. This is a personal goal, but it was definitely fed by conversations with many of my clients. I’m also committed to continuing the progress I’ve made in my health. I want to feel so good I could dance the night away if I wanted to!
What are you feeling really grateful for?
I have the most amazing parents, and it seems like every time I go home to visit our connection and love goes even deeper. Phenomonal family. I love my guy and my dog, they ground me each in their own unique way. I’m blessed to know some extraordinary women, and I’m extremely grateful for their friendships. And last but not least, I am so grateful for my work. My passion for coaching is still as strong as when I began 13 years ago, and I often have moments of pure gratitude after a session with a client. Blessed.
