Q: What was the moment you knew you’d chosen the right path to become a Desire Map Facilitator?

Once my life began to feel better as a result of the Desire Map process, I wanted everyone to know what I’d discovered. I wanted to teach the process, and as a professional Coach, I also wanted a way to use the process with integrity. Finding out facilitating was becoming available was like a genie granting my wish, and I was so eager to begin I ran my first workshop within a month of the official launch.

Q: What makes Desire Map such a powerful tool for coaches?

Knowing “how you want to feel” has helped many of my clients recognize the changes they want to make and set more meaningful goals to move forward. For a client who’s been going round in circles for a very long time, this understanding is life-changing.

Q: How have you used the Desire Map Facilitator Program in alignment with your coaching practice?

Once I became a facilitator, I then had access to even more resources, as well as being able to run full-day workshops purely around Desire Mapping. I added Desire Map workshops to my regular calendar of offerings, as well as incorporating the Desire Map process into my one-on-one coaching sessions.

I’ve subsequently used many of the questions found in the guidebook and workbook in my coaching questionnaires, as homework between sessions, and as support for my clients when they set their action and goals.

Q: How has becoming a Desire Map Facilitator helped you grow as a coach?

I am definitely a more soulful coach, thanks to The Desire Map. I now listen naturally to understand how my clients are feeling and to what feels good and not so good for them. It’s not just what they want to have, do, or change that we discuss. We talk about how they want to feel as a result, and for me this is what now ties everything together.

Q: What’s one of your favourite moments as a Desire Map Facilitator?

My client Mavis was in her late 60s and had been gifted a workshop ticket by her daughter. I could tell she came along just to please her daughter. Because that’s what Mavis did — she pleased people. She’d been a stay-at-home mum and was now a stay-at-home nanna, looking after grandchildren four days each week. She had a strong routine of maintaining her home, taking care of her husband, and committing all her spare time to her grandchildren. Her life, hobbies, and interests had all been on hold for the past 40 plus years.

At the end of the day, she announced, “I want to feel ALIVE! I didn’t realize how numb I’d become.”

The tears flowed as her daughter said, “I know, Mum, and I’ve missed you.”

Testimonials from workshop attendees

“I want to say thank you for such a great experience and for opening up my eyes to new feelings and thoughts about myself. It was an amazing day of discovery! I loved digging deep into my emotions as I completed the worksheets with honest thoughts. I learned a lot about myself. I also liked sharing some experiences with others knowing that we were all so honest and raw in our thoughts. Recognizing who we are and what we want to feel.”

“Karen’s a person who loves to see others reach their potential. She’s creative, insightful, and a wonderful listener. She is thoughtful, respectful, and understanding of her friends’/clients’ situations. She treads carefully, yet with gentle nudging helps them to make progress towards their goals.  And if you don’t even know what your goals are…she will help you identify those.  Karen is patient and kind, yet energetic, bubbly and full of life. She helped me to understand myself better.”
