Symbolism is so powerful. Images bypass all the linguistic clutter ;-) and just ZAP! our subconscious. But USS M.Albright's intentional, and subliminal use of those broaches... wow! Deeply clever. And even sexy in a subversive way.

I thought I had no use for books about de-cluttering (in fact I'm thinking of someday writing one called "Love your clutter!") but damn if this chicka might make me change my mind. An unclutter book by someone who loves Einstein's Dreams and TS Eliot and Haruki Murakami. Damn, maybe uncluttering can be interesting.

I didn't know that about the pins either; it'd be interesting to incorporate deliberate displays of symbolism in our own lives for such purposes. Think of how powerful and savvy it'd make us feel (not to mention it'd surely help guide the outcome). And I'm right there with you on less rules. Just read a good quote the other day: "Rules without relationships lead to rebellion." We need less rules and more relationships.
