"Don't get ahead of yourself"...can suck it.

If you’re a horse, you will probably always act like a horse. You’ll run all horse-like, and crave wide, open spaces. Like horses do. Because…you’re a for real horse.

People may ask you to be less fidgety at the gate — don’t get too excited. Or you shouldn’t take up so much space when you clippety clop into a room. And, Why do you always want to run? Can’t you not want to run as much? Not really…you’re a horse. All of you is a horse. You’re not part horse, and part cat — in fact, you’re a purebred.

MOST OF THE TIME, in most circumstances, being your total horse self works. Because...

Authenticity is hella effective for inner peace — and magnetism. T W E E T

Whole truth: In certain circumstances, being a horse is going to be disastrous. You clomp around and knock stuff over, and, whoa! There you go again bolting out of the gate when it would have been better to wait. Sometimes being yourself gets you in trouble. But like I said… most of the time, it’s awesome to be a horse if you are indeed a horse.

Last week I had an extra great meeting with my team — 7 of us, 4 countries. We went through our People Map (aka Org Chart.) Who's on the bus, in which seat. (Nod to Jim Collins' Good To Great - which has been biblical for me.) I went deep into my vision, anchoring it all back to why Danielle Inc. (and the new companies we're forming!) exists: To evoke Truth and inspire Love.

My "job" (my vocation / honour / blessing / obsession), is to be the Visionary to stay seven steps ahead. We've designed everything to make that possible. I just keep creating, creating.

After I got off that call and was dipping carrots into hummus at the kitchen counter, feeling all full-hearted and pumped, I remembered ALLLL the times that someone said to me (and there were MANY), "Now, Danielle, don't get ahead of yourself." Teachers, investors, advice-givers. "Don't get ahead of yourself..."

And I would fume inside. Like, SEETHE. I felt misunderstood, unseen, I felt like a horse being reined in way too hard. I had to bite my tongue, like you do when you're learning, asking for advice or funding... like you do when you're misunderstood.

"Don't get ahead of yourself..." Suck it.

I have two speeds: Graze and gallop. "Getting ahead of myself" is how I got to where I am — right here, seven steps ahead. And it's most definitely how I'll get to where I'm going.

We each have an innate, true nature -- and when we're being that, it's ecstasy. T W E E T

Risk-eating or cautiously strategic. Methodical or fiery. Staccato or flowing. Saunter, swim, or gallop. You gotta, gotta move in the way your soul likes to move. And if you're somewhere where you can't move in the way your soul likes to move — move on.
